TALA has drawn over 40,000 guests since it opened to the public in March of 2008. Over 25,000 tourists made TALA their destination in 2009. Current attractions include: historic tours, paranormal tours and ghost hunts. TALA has been featured on the Travel Channel, SyFy Channel, and Country Music Television. We also host fairs, festivals, athletic events, motorsports, and a Halloween show that has achieved legendary status.  

 In 2010 TALA will be expanding and diversifying the historic tour schedule. New additions to the existing schedule will include, a facility tour which combines the current tour of the asylum itself, with a tour of the entire property. Visitors will see and learn the functions of the outbuildings and the old farm. We plan to add community vegetable gardens and animals consistent with a 19th century farm.  This will recreate the farm that supported the patient population 150 years ago.

 A tour focusing on the Civil War will also be added. We will enlighten visitors about significant events that took place at TALA during the conflict, and where they happened. The tour will include a wagon ride through historic downtown Weston, identifying locations and structures related to the dramatic events that took place during the Civil War

 In addition, TALA will be hosting eight photography tours, for serious photographers. This will allow the participants access to the interior of the Asylum, the Medical Center (Forensics), the TB Building, and the three cemeteries.  

On the paranormal side; in 2010 TALA has scheduled over 70 ghost hunts and paranormal tours. We are actively negotiating with several celebrities from paranormal television shows to appear at next year’s Haunted Weekend, in August.  They will meet and speak to their fans and then personally guide them on a ghost hunt through the Asylum.

Outdoors, TALA has added a Turkey and Trout Expo in April. For more excitement, side by side drag racing has been added to the recreational calendar, which already includes TMSA Mud Bogs and the ultimate 4x4 weekend, Mudmania. The Moonstruck Music Festival, Fall Festival, the Trans-Allegheny Witches Ball, a circus and carnival will give everyone a chance to experience TALA.
